Toronto Argonaut helps tackle hunting issues
Meet CFL Grey Cup Champion and proud O.F.A.H. member, Jude St. John.
Standing 6 foot 4” and weighing 308-pounds, Jude is one of the rocks of Toronto Argonauts offensive line.
This hunting season, as the Toronto Argos move their line closer to another CFL victory, Jude may be torn as to where he would rather be -- huddled in a player’s scrum, or camouflaged in a duck blind.
Jude’s self confessed “passion” for hunting and fishing is exactly what inspired him to help endorse the work of the O.F.A.H. As a longstanding O.F.A.H. member, Jude will be featured in a number of upcoming O.F.A.H. membership campaigns including various radio spots and magazine advertisements.
“I appreciate the way the O.F.A.H. operates. It’s a professional organization that helps hunters and anglers speak with a unified voice. I’m passionate about fishing and hunting and strongly believe in the O.F.A.H.,” said Jude, the 33-year old London Ontario native who credits his father and brother for his early childhood induction into hunting.
“Being an O.F.A.H. member helps me keep track of what’s going on with fishing, hunting and firearms issues. Whenever I’m on the road, I always pack my latest issue of Ontario Out of Doors magazine,” he said.
Jude uses an excellent analogy to describe the importance of O.F.A.H. membership. He explained that, as a professional football player, it’s imperative to be proactive all year long, despite the relatively short season for actually playing football.
“As hunters and anglers, we must also be proactive all year long,” said Jude, adding that he wants non-members to know, “once fishing and hunting opportunities are gone, it’ll be too late to complain.”
Throughout Jude’s nine-year CFL career, it’s been refreshing for O.F.A.H. members to hear a sports celebrity who so enthusiastically promotes our hunting heritage, particularly on nationally syndicated radio and television programs.
“I take that opportunity and use that platform to share with people something that I’m passionate about,” added Jude.
